  • What speech therapy services are offered at Highland Horizon Therapy?
    At Highland Horizon Therapy, we provide a comprehensive range of speech therapy services tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients. Our main services include: Articulation: Focused on helping children improve the clarity of their speech sounds. Language: Designed to assist children with difficulties in understanding and using language, including receptive and expressive language skills. Augmentative and Alternative Communication: Focused on providing support and/or alternative means of communication through low- and high-tech options such as communication boards and speech-generative devices *Although we do not specialize in fluency, voice, and feeding, these skills may be addressed as part of the child's treatment plan.   • Where is Highland Horizon Therapy located?
    We do not have a physical location or clinic. We provide therapy in-home, and in daycares in the East Wake area (Zebulon, Wendell) and surrounding areas.
  • What areas does Highland Horizon Therapy serve?
    We serve East Wake (primarily Zebulon and Wendell), Nash, and Franklin counties. We provide teletherapy throughout North Carolina.
  • How long are sessions?
    Therapy sessions typically last 30 minutes, depending on your child's specific needs and attention span.
  • How long are evaluations?
    We conduct comprehensive language, articulation, and fluency assessments lasting up to 60 minutes. AAC evaluations are typically 60 minutes but may last longer due to the child's communication needs. If the evaluation requires more than 60 minutes, additional costs will occur.   • What is child-led and play-based?
    Engagement: Child-led approaches encourage children to take the lead, increasing their motivation and interest in therapy activities. Natural Learning: Play-based therapy aligns with how children learn naturally, making it easier for them to grasp new concepts and skills. Individualized Approach: This method allows speech therapists to tailor activities to each child's unique interests and needs, promoting personalized learning experiences. Development of Social Skills: Engaging in play helps children develop essential social skills, such as communication, cooperation, and turn-taking. Reduced Anxiety: A playful environment can reduce stress and anxiety, making children feel more comfortable and open to participating in therapy.
  • How are parents, caregivers, and families incorporated into therapy?
    Involvement in Therapy Sessions: Parents, caregivers, and family members often participate in therapy sessions to understand techniques and strategies used by the speech therapist. Home Practice: Families are encouraged to carry over skills learned in therapy to everyday situations, reinforcing progress at home. Education and Training: Speech therapists provide education to families about communication disorders and effective ways to support their loved ones. Goal Setting: Families are involved in setting therapy goals that reflect the individual needs and priorities of the child. Progress Updates: Regular communication between therapists and families ensures that everyone is informed about the child’s progress and any adjustments needed in the therapy plan. Support and Resources: Families receive resources and support to enhance their understanding and management of speech and language challenges.
  • Do you accept insurance?
    Yes, we are in-network with all North Carolina Medicaid insurances. We recommend you call and ask your insurance provider about your copay, deductible, and/or how many sessions are covered. Private pay is always an option if you aren't insured with these companies or if your services aren't deemed "medically necessary." If we are out-of-network with your insurance, we can provide you with a Superbill for you to submit to your insurer for reimbursement.
  • What insurances are accepted?
    We currently accept North Carolina Medicaid (all plans) and cash pay options. We can provide a Superbill with all required information for you to submit to your insurance for possible personal reimbursement. For more information please contact us directly.
  • What if I do not have insurance or services are not deemed "medically necessary?"
    We understand that not everyone may have insurance coverage for speech therapy services or that some services may not be classified as "medically necessary" by insurers. To ensure that everyone has access to the speech therapy they need, we offer cash pay options.
  • Do you offer a discount?
    Yes, we offer a "prompt pay discount" if services are paid at the time of service. Please contact us for more information.
  • What is the cancellation policy?
    Please provide at least 24-hour notice for cancellations to avoid a potential fee. In cases of emergency, please provide a 2-hr notice if possible.
